Never underestimate the power of the human spirit and the desire to succeed. When Melissa came to Literacy Services for help, she had limited English skills and limited financial resources. With the help of our free literacy program and our devoted tutors, she mastered the English language.
Melissa went on to graduate from college and is now pursuing her Master’s degree. One of her greatest achievements was being a role model for her children, and ensuring they learned to read and succeed in school. The story came full circle when both of her children received college scholarships!
Success stories like Melissa’s exist throughout our organization. It is a beautiful example of why Literacy Services exists today – to improve substandard reading skills of adults, improve their personal life, and help put a stop to generational illiteracy. With your help, our mission continues.
